A hunter facing off against a giant beast in Wild Hearts

We're just a few days out from the release of Monster Hunter-esque action RPG Wild Hearts, and Koei Tecmo has released a brand new story trailer showing what you can expect from the game's narrative. This includes an introduction to some of the key characters you'll be working alongside as you battle the game's fierce Kemono.

In the trailer, we hear about how the world of Wild Hearts was rocked by a cataclysm "long ago". That disaster looks like it's about to happen again, and the village of Minato "will fall" if you and your fellow hunters don't intervene. However, as the trailer's voiceover says, Minato is just the name of the town; "a village is its people", and there will be plenty of them to meet.

Some of the characters you'll be meeting in Wild Hearts include Natsume, a blacksmith "forged by love and loss", as well as Ujishige, a soldier who has been "forced to confront his past". There's also Suzuran, the town's "resident scientist", and a host of other characters besides. It's not immediately clear what role they'll play yet, but at the very least, it seems pretty obvious that Natsume and Suzuran will be helping you upgrade your gear.

This new Wild Hearts trailer also shows off a number of the Kemono you'll be battling, including the Earthbreaker, a colossal rock creature that looks like a bear, as well as winged bird beasts, wolf-like Deathstalkers, and more. It looks like Wild Hearts will boast a pretty impressive range of different monsters for you to fight.

Wild Hearts launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 17th. In the run-up to the game's launch, a number of trailers have been released, including a cinematic trailer showing off some of the gadgets you'll be using and a PS5 gameplay trailer showing the hunt for the tiger-esque Golden Tempest Kemono. Stay tuned to TechRaptor for more Wild Hearts info.
