Widowmaker Might be Getting Nerfed After McCree

Widowmaker Overwatch

We're slowly getting to the point where the players in Overwatch understand enough of the game's intricacies and the accompanying meta to be able to point out to Blizzard where the game's sore points lie. Recently, the developer explained that the revolver-toting cowboy badass McCree is getting a nerf to his Fan the Hammer ability to make him easier to deal with as a tank, and it seems that French femme fatale Widowmaker is next up for the nerf chopping block.

On the official Overwatch forums, player Doctoralex brought up why he thinks Widowmaker could use a few tweaks. According to Doctoralex, Widowmaker's shots charge up way too quickly, resulting in body shots that take out enemy heroes way too quickly, as well as her gun's SMG mode being way too high a damage dealer for a character that's supposed to take careful shots from a distance, usually far removed from the front lines.

Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan responded to the player's concerns in the same thread, saying the following:

Widowmaker is on our radar. We are discussing her. We have some internal experiments going to see if we can keep her viable while lowering the frustration threshold a little bit. Right now, this is just exploration. If something more comes of it, we'll let you know.

When the implied rework is going to show its head is anyone's guess at this point, but it's good to see that Blizzard Entertainment is actively engaging with their community in order to make Overwatch  better.

Overwatch is Blizzard's first new IP in over 15 years and managed to attract over 7 million players within the game's first week of retail release. If you've been casually observing the game and you're not yet sure if this is something you'd want to play, you can check out our review here

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
