We Happy Few, an indie exploration and survival game developed by Compulsion Games and published by Gearbox, has been delayed until summer according to a production update from the game's developers. In addition, Compulsion will be halting Early Access sales of the game at the end of January 2018.
Set in an alternate history 1960's England, We Happy Few plops you in the middle of a world rigid with conformity and balanced out by mind-altering drugs. Gamers have the option to use stealth of different types, either by sneaking past dangerous situations or fitting in as a social chameleon of sorts. If things get hairy, you'll have to resort to good ol' fashioned combat. The developers have released a production update on their website along with an associated video:

The dev team needs more time to polish We Happy Few, and as a result, they will be delaying the release of the game until Summer 2018. Furthermore, they've noticed concerns from some players about the amount of content that's currently in the game relative to its current price and will be taking action on the matter.
Compulsion Games finds themselves in a bit of a paradox when it comes to Early Access - they want people to be able to pre-purchase and play the game, but they also understand that what's in the game now might not reflect player expectations. As a result, they'll be halting Early Access sales of We Happy Few at the end of January 2018 until the game's release this Summer. Furthermore, everyone who currently owns the game on Steam will be able to get a full refund regardless of how much playtime they have in the game.
If you don't yet own We Happy Few, you can buy it on Steam Early Access for $50.99 or your regional equivalent. Be sure to check out our Preview of the game. Steam Early Access sales will be halting at the end of January until the game's full release in Summer of 2018.
What do you think of We Happy Few delaying the release of their game until summer? Do you think they're making the right move in temporarily pulling the game from Steam Early Access & offering refunds to players who already purchased the game? Let us know in the comments below!
