Netherrealm Studios just released an interesting new video starring Mortal Kombat boss Ed Boon as he talks about the new Mortal Kombat 1.
We get some interesting details like the reason behind the choice of title, which is certainly peculiar. Boon also talks about the trailer that accompanied the release of the game and hints at what we can expect from the story including a lot of origin storytelling about the characters. They have "completely different roles" in this timeline.
We also hear that Mortal Kombat 1 will bring back the fan-driven campaign Kollective on top of the Kombat Kast. Boon also shares that this game is the Mortal Kombat title on which the studio has worked the longest.
The end of the video also showcases the creation of the figure for the $249.99 Collector's Edition. You can watch it below.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game tells the story of an entirely different Mortal Kombat timeline focused on a universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. Despite the different setting and story, which is basically a reboot for the franchise, you can expect familiar elements like brutal fighting and the inevitably gore-driven fatalities. No matter the universe, Mortal Kombat fighters will always tear each other to shreds.
