InXile, the developer behind Wasteland 2, has today announced a sequel, Wasteland 3 and what they have planned for the game.

After its success with Wasteland 2, InXile has revealed their plans for the next game in the franchise. This new chapter in the post-apocalyptic series is to be set in the icy Colorado wastes. Wasteland 3 is planned to release on the PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One.

After Wasteland 2 was successfully crowd funded, InXile plan on doing the same with its sequel. The crowdfunding campaign will launch on the 5th October. It will be done through Fig with them hoping to raise $2.75 million.

Along with a new setting there will also be a number of new features, one of them being the inclusion of co-op, for the first time in the series history, allowing players the play through the game with a friend. After a multiplayer game has been started, you will still be able to play, even if your friend is offline, but decisions made could affect what your co-op buddy had been working on.

Wasteland 3 will also include revamped combat featuring vehicles, the ability to make improvements to your Ranger Base plus a new dialog tree system.

As a lot of people may know the original Wasteland was actually the precursor to Fallout. When Interplay couldn't get the licence for a sequel from EA, they decided to make a new game, they described Fallout as a spiritual successor to Wasteland. It wasn't until 2012 when Brian Fargo announced a Kickstarter for a new Wasteland game. After smashing its goal and raising just over $2.9 million Wasteland 2 was released on September 19, 2014.

How do you feel about InXile doing another crowdfunding campaign? Do you think they will have the same type of success? Let us know your thoughts on it.
