The Wartales release date has been announced by Shiro Games, and it's coming on December 1, 2021, which has it sneak in its early access release before the end of the year as previously promised. The open-world RPG had a long ten-hour-ish demo released back in June for Steam Next Fest, which had a very decent reception all around.
Shiro Games has previously developed Northgard, a RTS that has been receiving updates and DLC for the last few years now, along with games like Evoland, Evoland 2, and Darksburg. Hopefully Wartales, will receive the same love and attention a few years after its release, but we'll have to see.

What exactly is Wartales?
As previously mentioned, Wartales is an open-world RPG. In it, players are in a world that has seen the Edoran Empire fall a hundred years ago due to a plague that has swept the lands. Honor is forgotten, and now mercenaries and banditry, and thievery are abundant. You lead a group of mercenaries that are looking for riches, and to do so you're going to have to fight. You'll explore a large world full of lively villages, abandoned mines and camps, and everything in between.
That between includes contracts that will have you recruiting new companions that have unique specializations, skill sets, and weapon preferences, which will give you plenty of builds to choose from for your band of mercenaries. Bounties can also be collected and there's also a crafting system that can help you build new weapons and tools. You can even develop your own camp by adding new amenities, tools, and equipment.
There's a lot going on in Wartales, and if you're interested in it but can't play the Wartales release date of December 1, 2021, check out the demo here.
