The Iron Horde is coming. The release date for the newest expansion for World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, was revealed today in a livestream event featuring interviews with game designers and appearances by CEO Mike Morhaime and Senior VP Chris Metzen.
With a release date of November 13, 2014, the fifth World of Warcraft expansion will feature a totally "revamped" Draenor, a free boost of any character on the account to 90, and player-controlled garrisons, WoW's take on the much-demanded player housing.
You can view the cinematic here, a return to the darker, more violent roots of the Warcraft franchise. As Metzen said during the presentation, "The age of the whimsical panda is over."
Players will unite to combat the Iron Horde, push them back through the Dark Portal, and set foot on a more intact Draenor to fight the enemy on its home turf. Game developers Ion Hazzikostas and Brian Holinka teased a world event to kick off the expansion in the time before the release date, featuring a level 90 version of a WoD end-game instance.
Pre-orders are already live, which will get you the level 90 boost to dip your toes into the buffed raids of Mists of Pandaria and sample the upcoming prerelease event. Did the release date match your bet in the guild pool? Will this be the expansion that brings you back to WoW? Where does the cinematic rank among the previous five?
