A new Warhammer: Vermintide 2 update is coming. The Chaos Wastes update brings with it a brand new roguelite-inspired game mode in which you'll be able to access 15 brand new locations and take part in tough new battle types.
What's in the new Warhammer: Vermintide 2 update?
Per the official Warhammer: Vermintide 2 website, the titular Chaos Wastes task you and your teammates with exploring hostile new locations and dispatching enemies, roguelite-style. As you get further in, you'll unlock greater and greater rewards, but of course, the danger will also increase exponentially as you play. You can check out the official Vermintide 2 Chaos Wastes update trailer for a taste of what's in store for you later this month.
Naturally, since Chaos Wastes is a roguelite mode, the map will shift every time you play, meaning you'll never be able to fully learn routes. As you play, you'll also encounter areas that have been cursed. These areas are under the control of certain rulers, necessitating a shift in your gameplay style to counteract whatever effect that ruler is having on the area. Cursed areas are extra-challenging, so it'll take everything you and your teammates have to overcome them.
You'll be able to get your hands on the Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Chaos Wastes update on April 20th, when it launches for PC. A console release date hasn't been announced yet, but the devs say the update is coming to console "as soon as possible". Chaos Wastes is due to arrive on the same day as a "remaster" of Vermintide 2 which is intended to streamline download size. Both of these updates are free, so be sure to look out for them next week.
