Warhammer games see a lot of digital counterparts these days, and it appears that the deckbuilding miniature skirmish strategy game Warhammer: Underworlds will be next. Announced by Steel Sky Productions, Warhammer Underworlds: Online will be a digital conversion of the tabletop game releasing on Steam's Early Access later in 2019.

“Bringing Underworlds to life is an amazing opportunity for us,” said Creative Director, Neil Rennison. “This game has the potential to connect a thriving, global community of players and we plan on doing just that, by delivering an incredible Warhammer Underworlds experience.”Warhammer Underworlds: Online is a two-player digital tabletop game where players can choose a warband, build decks, and then face off against other players. To win, they will have to score the most 'Glory' by defeating enemy fighters and completing objectives. Each game should last between 30 and 60 minutes.
Deckbuilding is described as the strategic 'heart' of the title. In-game, players will have two decks: a 12-card objective deck for those who prefer a more tactical approach, and a 20-card power deck that will allow players to pull off interesting moves and give powerful upgrades.
Warhammer: Underworlds was first launched in 2017, with two major boxed sets and more than a dozen Warband expansion packs released. Here at TechRaptor, the Shadespire expansion received a 9/10 rating, and you can look over the review here.
The developers also took great pains to note that Underworlds will be a premium PC title with no predatory micro-transactions. Upon purchasing the title, players will receive two warbands at launch along with two extra warbands during the title's Early Access period for no additional cost. For extra content beyond its full release, Warhammer Underworlds: Online will be updated with free cards for all players regularly, and warband DLC expansions will also be available to purchase.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online will also have a single-player mode for its full release version. The Early Access version will be feature-light at launch and multiplayer-only until it is released (at a discount) out of Early Access.
