Developer and publisher Fatshark has announced that co-op first-person shooter Warhammer 40k: Darktide is coming to PlayStation 5 next month.
Darktide will officially launch on Sony's machine on December 3rd, according to a post on the game's official X (formerly Twitter) account. If you pre-order now and you're a PS Plus subscriber, you can get a nifty 10% off your purchase as well.
The PlayStation 5 release looks to be pretty much identical to the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions, although Fatshark hasn't yet confirmed whether we can expect crossplay support when the PS5 version arrives.
Additionally, if you pre-order the game's Imperial Edition, you'll be able to play six days earlier than everyone else. Truly, the glory of the Emperor shines down upon those who pony up a little extra cash.
If you're not familiar with Warhammer 40k: Darktide, it's a first-person shooter set in the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40k universe. It's effectively Fatshark's 40k answer to its own Vermintide series.
The game's story, which was co-written by Black Library authors Dan Abnett and Matt Ward, revolves around a group of "Rejects" who must descend into the depths of the hive known as Tertium in order to rid it of the agents of chaos god Nurgle.
Since it's a live-service game, Darktide sees you engaging in all kinds of missions to fight back the forces of Nurgle, including reclaiming lost facilities, assassinating key figures in Nurgle's army, and more.
Darktide was originally released for PC in late 2022, with an Xbox version following almost a year later in October 2023. Appropriately enough, the distance between that launch and the PS5 version arriving is just over a year.
You'll be able to play Warhammer 40k: Darktide on PS5 when it launches on December 3rd. The game is also currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
