Since initially being announced back in 2020, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has seen a few delays over the years. Today, it was announced that the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide release date would be delayed once more, this time with a set release date of November 30, 2022 for PC at least.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic first started, several gaming companies have experienced setbacks and issues with holding onto a solid release date. As of today, it was announced the devs at FatShark need a bit more time to polish their game to the best of their ability. This is not the first time that the release date for Warhammer 40,000 Darktide has been delayed, as it was first delayed to the Spring of 2022 due to COVID-19 causing some trouble, then once more to September of 2022.
Along with this delay announcement came another piece of news, where the devs stated that the release for Xbox consoles would be pushed back even further than the PC release date since they had decided previously to release them separately. At this time, there is no exact date set for the Xbox release, only for the PC version. The developers do say that the release date for consoles will be revealed later on down the line.
The devs made a statement on Twitter, where they stated,
"While we have been humbled by the great feedback on the game so far, we also need more time to improve stability, performance, and to mature key systems. Each is critical to making sure we have the best possible experience for you, the players."
CEO and Co-Founder of FatShark, Martin Wahlund also mentioned that they have decided to invite players on the long journey ahead, where he states players can now sign up for playtests as the game comes into the final stretch of development.
