A third Voice of Cards game has been announced. Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is not only the third title in the series but also the third one released in the space of less than a year. It's headed to PC, PS4, and Switch later this month.

What is Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden?

As with previous Voice of Cards titles The Isle Dragon Roars and The Forsaken Maiden, this new game is a standalone story, so even if you haven't played the first two, you should be able to enjoy it. This one revolves around a millennium-old conflict between monsters and humans and follows a girl who swears revenge on the monsters after she loses her home.

Once again, Nier and Drakengard creative director Yoko Taro returned to helm this project, aided by music director Keiichi Okabe and character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka. It's essentially a marriage of JRPG-style storytelling and card battling mechanics, so if that sounds like a good match for you, then you might want to give this one a look.

When is the Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden release date?

Alongside the game itself, Square Enix also revealed the Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden release date, which falls on September 13th. You'd be right to think that's a pretty close date considering the announcement was only made today, but hey, at least you don't have too long to wait if you're a fan of this series.

If you buy the game prior to October 3rd, you'll get a new avatar design and a new card back as a reward. There's also a Digital Deluxe Edition available that packs in a handful of goodies, including new costumes, new in-game cosmetics, and a pixel art filter. If you're a fan of Yoko Taro and his creative style, you might want to give that a look.

He sure is, apparently.

You'll be able to grab Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC when it lands on September 13th. You can also pick up the first two gamesVoice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars and Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden, on those platforms right now if you want to catch up with the franchise.
