Viz Media has announced that The World Next Door release date has been set for March 2019. This upcoming game was first announced a little over a year ago as one of the first ventures undertaken by a media company that has largely focused on bringing Japanese manga and anime over to Western audiences. Rose City Games has been busting their butts to get it done and they've now locked in the release window for this delightfully strange game.

An official trailer has been released alongside this news of The World Next Door release date. Give it a watch!

In The World Next Door, you'll play as the rebellious teenager Jun who manages to get herself stuck in a parallel world filled with strange creatures. Yes, I realize that I have just described basically 50% of the isekai ("another world") manga on the market, but hey—there isn't anything wrong with going with what works. You won't have to wait too long to get this, either—The World Next Door release date is March 28. 2019.

Jun and her odd friends will battle their way through this strange world in a narrative-driven experience. That's not to say this will be a walking simulator, though. As you can see from the above trailer, there is plenty of gameplay to be had! From what we can see, you'll have to make use of some kind of magical runestones in order to defeat your enemies. You'll be able to take a couple of your demonic friends along for the ride, although it seems like you'll only be able to pick two out of the several available. Presumably, each of these companions will offer different abilities to help you through the game.

The World Next Door is set to arrive on PC, Mac, and the Nintendo Switch at a price of $14.99 or your regional equivalent. A special bundle including the soundtrack will be available on PC and Mac for just five dollars more. The World Next Door release date is March 28, 2019. For now, you can add it to your wishlist on Steam.
