The fire rises in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed. Developer Hardsuit Labs says it's still aiming for a 2020 launch, but that the game will miss its original Q1 2020 launch window.

In a blog post on the official website, Hardsuit Labs staffers Andy Kipling and Brian Mitsoda go into some detail about why Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed. They say the decision was made in order to "value quality" over getting the game out quickly. The first game was famously rushed, with lead writer Mitsoda wishing the game had been in development for another six months before release. Hardsuit Labs want to avoid this fate for the second game, hence the delay.

Kipling and Mitsoda go on to say that the hallmarks of Bloodlines - a deep, branching storyline, fascinating characters, and a rich universe - are all priorities for the dev team. Everyone working on the game "wants to offer you the best Bloodlines 2 that [they] can", according to Kipling and Mitsoda, but there's more work to do before the game is ready for primetime.

If you're lucky enough to be going along to PDXCON this year, you'll see some of the staff from Hardsuit Labs. They'll be sharing insights on the development process for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 as well as some info about how they've been expanding the team to meet development challenges. If you're not going to PDXCON, there will also be a live stream this Saturday, plus a Reddit thread on Sunday where Hardsuit will be answering your questions.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is now scheduled for a 2020 release. You can keep up with the game via the official Discord channel or subreddit. The Hardsuit question-and-answer live stream will be available on Paradox's Twitch and Mixer channels this Sunday at 4 pm CET.
