Iron Gate AB's Valheim continues to be a popular Early Access title and it will be expanding its availability. During the extended stream following the recent Xbox Showcase, it was revealed that the game would be coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass. This announcement effectively ends the game's PC exclusivity by bringing it to consoles for the first time. Whether this indicates that the game will finally be leaving Early Access is unclear.
Valheim on Xbox, PC Game Pass Details
Having come out in early 2021, Valheim has received a tremendous amount of positive feedback. While the studio is keeping the game in development, the game has shown to be highly functional with crisp visuals. Despite its popularity, it remained restricted to PCs through Steam only. Now, Valheim heads to consoles via Xbox next year. People subscribed to Game Pass will be able to play the game from their consoles as well as their PCs. Valheim will also support crossplay between the console and PC versions, including Steam.
Like many games, Valheim is set in the universe of Norse mythology. Players take on the role of customized Viking characters let loose in the mortal realm of Midgard. Either alone or with others, they have the option to explore the world in search of adventure or focus on establishing a thriving settlement. They can either go through a gradual route of harvesting and building up or seeking out enemies and beasts to slay for treasure and glory. The world is expansive, having plenty of areas to explore on foot and seas to sail across to seek new lands. Each new world is procedurally generated which increases replay value and helps players craft a unique experience.
Though it may stay in Early Access a while longer, Valheim has reached a point where it can branch out even more. Now Xbox players will have the chance to play it through Game Pass come 2023.
