Iron Gate has revealed that it plans to release the Valheim Mountains Update in early 2022 -- and it also showed off a couple of spooky screenshots of what we can expect.
Things have been going well for Valheim, albeit at a slower pace than some of us may have liked. The Hearth and Home Update finally launched back in September and Iron Gate has been gradually teasing its work on upcoming content, part of which includes improvements to the Mountains biome. Heck, it even had time to add in a terrifying new monster last month.
So, what does the future hold? Things are still in motion, but Iron Gate felt it was time to tease a little more of the upcoming Valheim Mountains Update -- including a hint about when we can expect to play it.
The Valheim Mountains Update Looks Scary as Hell
A total of two new images from the Valheim Mountains Update were shared in a development blog from Iron Gate earlier today.
The first image (seen in our header image) shows a brave Viking with a torch, standing outside of a massive cave with runestones on either side. The second image has some wolf-themed sculptures on the right and what looks to be a Fenring hiding in the shadows. Don't get mixed up thinking this is a new enemy -- Fenrings have been in the game since launch, although they're somewhat rarer than most monsters and you may have not yet encountered one.
We're also rapidly approaching the holiday season, and that means it's time for Yuletide! Some fun new holiday-themed items will be made available in the game, and that's not all -- Iron Gate will also be hosting some kind of competition in the near future. Be sure to keep an eye on the game's official Twitter and Facebook accounts to see what it's all about when it launches.
When is the Valheim Mountains Update Release Date?
The Valheim Mountains Update release date will be sometime in early 2022. Unfortunately, Iron Gate has not yet shared a more specific release date.
"We aim to be able to release it early next year, but until then we thought we’d give you yet another sneak peek[,]" Iron Gate said in today's development blog.
For now, there's a ton of great content to enjoy in this Viking-themed open-world survival crafting game. With the winter holidays coming up, why not blow a few dozen hours avoiding your family and adventuring in the Viking afterlife? You can buy Valheim on Steam for just $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
