Iron Gate has released a brand new video detailing more of the mechanics changes we can expect from the upcoming Valheim Hearth and Home update. This time around, it's all about health and stamina, and how you can incorporate those stats into your build.

What's the latest Valheim Hearth and Home update spotlight about?

In the spotlight video, Iron Gate reveals that the two new kinds of food - health food and stamina food - will affect different aspects of combat. If you want to prioritize dealing tons of damage, you can continue to eat stamina food as normal, as this will affect the number of attacks you can fire off before getting tired. However, once the Hearth and Home update drops, tanky players will want to opt for health-giving food, as your shield blocking potency is now directly linked to your health. There's also a brand new stagger bar that will stagger you once it's full, meaning you'll be prone to damage for a couple of seconds. This, too, is tied to max health.

Don't let your Viking get staggered in Valheim, or they'll be prone to attacks from nasty beasties like this greydwarf.

This latest video follows on from last week's Valheim Hearth and Home update spotlight, which introduced the concept of different kinds of food. Once the Hearth and Home update drops, food will be split into three categories: health food, stamina food, and evenly split food, with each giving you different amounts of these stats. Iron Gate has also removed the food bar; instead, there's now a new bar showing you how long you have until you need to eat more of each type of food. Icons will still glow next to the bar to show you when your food buffs wear off.

When is the next Valheim update coming?

Iron Gate says that the Valheim Hearth and Home update will launch in Q3 2021. This means we're expecting the update to land in fall. When it lands, it'll bring new treasure hoard construction options, new build pieces, and some new recipes to cook up with your Viking comrades. As a result of the update being moved to fall 2021, the Valheim roadmap is temporarily unavailable while Iron Gate works out some new timings. Hopefully, it won't be too long until we can see what else is coming to this Viking survival sim in the future. In the meantime, you can grab Valheim via Steam Early Access
