Stunlock Studios has released a new V Rising Secrets of Gloomrot gameplay trailer. The major update is scheduled to land in mid-May, and it's bringing all kinds of ghoulish new content with it, including new enemies, abilities, and areas to explore.
Secrets of Gloomrot was first announced back in March after being teased by Stunlock in February. Now, we're getting our first glimpse of what gameplay in the upcoming free update will look like. The player can be seen riding their vampiric steed and laying waste to their enemies, and the sinister Doctor Blackbrew is also seen reveling in the gleeful madness of his creations. As teased by a Steam announcement post accompanying the trailer, you'll get to travel "new lands harrowed by experiments and pollution", with the cackling mad scientist Doctor Henry Blackbrew at the core of these twisted scientific monstrosities. The trailer shows some of the mechanical enemies you'll be encountering, and it also teases what appears to be a boss fight with Blackbrew himself, in which he claims to have "ripped the lightning from the sky itself". Classic.
It's important to note that Secrets of Gloomrot, despite being a pretty big update that's bringing lots of new content, is not V Rising 1.0. That major milestone still appears to be some way off, with Stunlock tentatively suggesting that the full version of the game will likely arrive next year. That's not set in stone (or perhaps I should say etched upon a headstone), though, so V Rising 1.0 could be a fair way off yet.
Either way, Secrets of Gloomrot launches for V Rising on May 17th, and it'll be totally free if you own the game. It's the first of three planned major updates for the game "for the foreseeable future", according to Stunlock, with the second of those updates being the game's full release.
