Revealed during UploadVR's E3 showcase, Maze Theory is bringing the BBC's legendary Doctor Who series to VR with Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The small indie team at Maze Theory promises that you'll be able to meet recognizable characters and enemies like Daleks or Weeping Angels in the exploration game. Maze Theory also partnered with current Doctor Jodie Whittaker in order to reprise her role as the Doctor, trapped at the Edge of Time. Naturally, no good Doctor Who game would be complete without a chance to explore the TARDIS, something Maze Theory promises in spades. Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is set to come to all VR headsets this September.
In Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, players will be solving puzzles, fighting enemies, and navigating the distorted realities at the End of Time. Maze Theory has partnered with the showrunners to create an authentic script for The Edge of Time, and are including music, items, and even entirely new enemies created just for the game. Maze Theory also promises that Doctor Who: The Edge of Time will be packed full of easter eggs and other references for show fans.
Maze Theory is a London-based game developer who specializes in creating extensive VR games and experiences. Earlier this year, Maze Theory announced that they would be using new AI technologies to develop a Peaky Blinders VR game, along with Maze Theory earning a grant for their technological developments. Clearly, the announcement put the relatively small studio on the map for the BBC, as they are partnering with the legendary broadcaster to make this Doctor Who game. You can check out Doctor Who: The Edge of Time when it releases this September on all VR platforms.
