Original Story Below

Uprising, the latest and greatest Overwatch event had been delayed due to unfortunate technical difficulties according to Blizzard Entertainment. The event is now up and running, but certain in-game features have been temporarily disabled.

Overwatch launched a PvE-centric event today called Uprising set seven years in the past on the King's Row map. The event focus' on the Overwatch team being deployed to deal with Omnic extremists by the name of Null Sector who had violently taken over a portion of London. Although Overwatch events typically go live at around 2:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time, there was an unfortunate and unexplained delay. The game's official Twitter put out a tweet apologizing for and explaining the delay:

For one reason or another, the latest patch has resulted in technical issues that have stopped Uprising from getting off the ground. Custom Game saves, 3v3 Elimination, and 6v6 Capture the Flag were initially disabled as Blizzard tried to pin down the exact cause. A recent update has added Leaderboards to the list. Blizzard advises that players keep an eye on the delay announcement thread where they will add in any relevant or important information as it comes to light. Unfortunately, there is no ETA for when the disabled features will return. Here's what the announcement says:

Hey everyone,

Due to ongoing technical issues with our latest patch, we have temporarily disabled the following features on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One (effectively immediately):

  • Custom Game saves
  • 3v3 Elimination
  • 6v6 Capture the Flag
  • Leaderboards
We don’t have an ETA for when the technical issues will be resolved and these features re-enabled, but will provide updates in this thread as they become available.

Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

Originally servers for Orverwatch were down as well for a period, with large amounts of people unable to connect. Right now, while there may be a small wait to connect, the connectivity issues have been dealt with according to Blizzard and users who have connected.

The Uprising event was originally detailed and explained in early April. Centered around the King's Row Uprising, some players had speculated that the event would be a PvE event (which turned out to be true). Just a few days later, a leaked image from the Xbox One dashboard potentially revealed four new skins, and the existence of these new skins was confirmed after the French-language trailer for the event was leaked. We'll be sure to keep you posted as new information about the delay comes in.

Are you disappointed by the delay in the Uprising event due to technical issues? How long do you think it will be before the game is back up and running? Which new skins are you hoping to get? Let us know in the comments below!
