Even with the joke reviews that you see on Steam all the time, a game that's able to come in at a 95% positive rating on Steam for its review is a good indicator that you've got a good game on your hand, especially when you've got over 500 reviews for it. Well, the Humble Bundle seems to agree with that logic, as the latest Humble Bundle is focusing on games with overwhelmingly positive ratings.
In the first Tier in which you can pay what you want, you start with the underrated Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (97% positive rating), which is the 3rd game in the Shantae series. It precedes the recent release of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, and fills a good platforming laid-back adventure with fun characters and solid gameplay. Then, you've got the overlooked Epic Battle Fantasy 4 (98% positive rating), which is summed up by one quote line in particular: "I shot a nuke at a small bush. 10/10". The final game is the odd one of the bunch, but a good oddity in Pony Island (96% positive rating). Trying to describe Pony Island is a difficult task, but I will say that your brain will wonder what the heck is going on by the time you are 2 hours into the game. It plays with your head, and well, it's experimental in a lot of ways.
In the second tier where you have to pay an average of what others have paid (at the time of writing it's $6.28), you get one of my favorite Point and Click adventure games from my youth in a new form: Day of the Tentacle: Remastered (98%), which at the time of publication, is ranked 20th in SteamDB's highest rated games on Steam. It's a lovely story about a purple tentacle trying to take over the world and 3 young nerds trying to stop that by traveling through time. But that's not all you get in this tier, as you get Deadbolt (95% positive rating). It's a stealth-action game that has you working your way through an undead uprising however you seem fit. Next week, additional games will be added to this tier.
Finally, at the final tier of 10 dollars or more, you get the 12th highest game rated (98% positive rating) on Steam right now in VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartending Simulator, which our own Perry Ruhland gave a 9.5/10. Basically, Perry indicated in the review that "VA-11 Hall-A is a stunning adventure that manages to deliver one of gaming's greatest stories". If that isn't an endorsement for a good game, I don't know what is. But on top of that, you also get the difficult action "platformer" in N++ (97% positive rating), which will test your reaction time and your twitch reflexes. It's got a stylish presentation on top of that, but you'll want to keep playing the game despite it beating you down more then Haggar on a random punk in Final Fight 3.
Edit: The writer forgot that the original GBC Shantae existed. Because he's a silly, silly man.
