[Updated]Eight Members of Kerbal Space Program Development Quit

Some unfortunate news has come to us today concerning Squad, the development team behind the popular space flight simulation game Kerbal Space Program.

Earlier today, a now-former Kerbal Space Program developer by the name of Nathan Kelly posted this thread to the game's unofficial subreddit forum, saying the following:

All good things must come to an end, and so it is for us. It is time for each of us to move on from Squad. Kerbal Space Program is an incredible game and has truly been a joy to create. We have greatly enjoyed working together with such a tightly-knit, professional, and talented development team, and with such a wonderful community. Over the last update cycle we’ve taken KSP to new heights and achieved great things with such a small team. We’ve finished work on update 1.2 and when Squad releases it, it will be a product of which we can be truly proud. We hope you share that opinion and we hope you enjoy playing it as much as we loved creating it.

Thank you all for the incredible community support. So long, and thanks for all the snacks!

Signed, in no particular order, your Kerbal developers Mike (Mu), Bill (Taniwha), Nathanael (NathanKell), Sébastien (Sarbian), Jim (Romfarer), Brian (Arsonide), Chris (Porkjet), Nathan (Claw)

It's unclear at this time whether the departure of these eight team members is related in any way to the departure of Felipe Falanghe four months prior, or to the comments made by former media director "PDtv"on the imageboard 4chan. TechRaptor staff have reached out to Kell and Squad for comment on this mass departure; at the time of writing this article we haven't received a response to our inquiries from Kell, but Squad has responded to our inquires with the following comment:
Since the beginning of Kerbal, developers have been coming and going, some stay longer than others but development has never stopped. Of course we are going to miss them, they did a great job and we wish them the best. As a company we are prepared for this kind of situations and we are already working on what comes next. We have already made an announcement about the future which you can see on our forum post. The future is bright and there is many more Kerbalness for many years to come.

Thank you

Nestor Gomez - Producer

Notable in that post, they state that the development of Kerbal Space Program is continuing and that they plan on more updates, full expansion packs and more. Additionally, the 1.2 update will be releasing on Tuesday, October 11th.

Kerbal Space Program is currently available for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Wii U, and PC.

Stay tuned to TechRaptor for more on the future of Kerbal Space Program and Squad.

Nestor got back to us again clarifying the situation regarding a report that there were only 2 developers, some QA and a community management team left on the project and stating that they have been replacing the people who have left.

As a clarification chris (porkjet) left the company some weeks ago and there is already new people filling that position. Regarding the developers along the last year we have been hiring new people and new people are coming in. We count with the support from very talented internal and external developers for PC that are already working on the game. As we said before we are a professional company with 9 years of history and not only in videogames. We are capable of handling this kind of situation.
What are your thoughts on this sudden departure? What do you think is the reason behind most of Squad quitting? Let us know in the comment section below.
