Update: It was announced today that PaRappa the Rapper Remastered will not be releasing on March 28, instead it will be releasing on April 4. This means the date previously provided on the storefront was incorrect, likely a placeholder for the first of their Play Collective titles. This may mean that the date on the store front for LocoRoco Remastered is inaccurate as well, but we have no further information on that at this time. If we learn more, we'll update this, and hopefully if it is inaccurate it is as small a difference as PaRappa the Rapper Remastered's turned out to be.

Original Story Below

During the 2016 PlayStation Experience Sony announced that they would be remastering a few of their more quirky games. Now we have definitive release dates for both PaRappa the Rapper Remastered and LocoRoco Remastered.

PaRappa the Rapper was a PlayStation 1 rhythm game where you played as PaRappa and rapped your way through various stages. Along the way PaRappa would learn kung-fu, how to drive, and other hilarious skills. The PlayStation 4 version is currently set to be released on March 28th. This updated re-release will include better textures, dynamic 4K support for Ps4 Pro, enhanced audio, and alternative audio tracks. Furthermore, this update will include the ability to "feel the beat" by having your controller vibrate along with the music, and "see the beat" which will increase the size of your player icon so you know when you hit a beat correctly. If you want to try it, a demo of PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is available on the PSN right now.

The second game is LocoRoco, a puzzle game that originally came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2006. In this game, you would play as a blob that would increase in size as you ate berries. You'd have to tilt the level to move around, and could split up and reform your LocoRoco to get through various areas in the environment. The PlayStation 4 version is set to be released on May 9th, according to a listing on the European PSN store. This version will allow you to use the motion controls in the PlayStation 4's controller to tilt the levels, and similar to PaRapper the Rapper it will feature dynamic 4K resolution for PlayStation 4 Pro owners.

Sony is also currently working on Patapon Remastered, a mix of rhythm and RPG that came out on the PsP in 2008. There is no word on when that will be hitting the Ps4, other than some time this year.

How do you feel about these remasters? Going to pick any of them up? Not interested? Hoping for any other of Sony's stranger PsP or Ps1 games to get remastered? Let us know in the comments!
