Yesterday BioWare announced the first story DLC for last year's multiple GOTY winner Dragon Age Inquisition.
The DLC will be coming to Xbox One and PC first via the EA Access program, but as yet BioWare has been close-lipped about the PS4 or last-gen release. BioWare was determinedly vague in the announcement, providing only the name, Jaws of Hakkon for the DLC.
Shocking no-one was the revelation that the internet had discovered more information about the DLC than BioWare intended via an achievement list. Xbox Achievements listed 4 Achievements/Trophies for the DLC which reveal some information as to the content of the DLC.
Firestarter: Destroy all the Winter Shards and light all the fires in the Old Temple.
Legend-Marked: Impress the Avvar of Stone-Bear Hold and gain their friendship.
Historian: Uncover the secrets of a legendary figure.
Winter's End: Dispel a myth of ancient days.
The second achievement is the most interesting. Combined with the image shared by the Dragon Age twitter account and the name "Hakkon" it appears this DLC will deal heavily with the Avvar. Inquisition gamers will remember them as the marsh dwelling barbarian tribe encountered early in the story. We can only hope an Avvar storyline will feature the greatest character from Inquisition; the chieftain who attacks Skyhold by pitching goats at it.
Inquisition was a massive hit last year, reaping Game of the Year awards from Game Informer, IGN, Polygon, The Game Awards and several others, so it stands to reason this first story DLC will have a large market. The release date for the DLC is interesting however as it comes out opposite Bloodborne, the hotly anticipated title by From Software. Clearly BioWare is confident in the draw of Inquisition's first major expansion.
