It's a hopeful time for Star Wars! EA's current list of primary Star Wars properties, Star Wars: Galaxy of HeroesStar Wars: The Old Republic, and Star Wars: Battlefront, will continue to expand within the next year. This will come in the form of updates and new content, such as the new raids and guilds added to EA's mobile game, Galaxy of Heroes, during the last Spring season. Updates to The Old Republic, which celebrates its 5th anniversary in December, promise to be packed with story elements and new gameplay features. Particularly highlighted are EA's plans for Battlefront which will feature three expansion packs,  along with a steady amount of free content, that will focus on Bespin, the Death Star, and an unknown theme that will be released in December.

VR enthusiasts can expect to immerse themselves in Battlefront's stunning world through the implementation of a VR mission that will be made available for PlayStation VR. Additionally, EA has announced a number of new games to be released in the future, starting with the release of a sequel to the Battlefront series in 2017. Many fans were disappointed by EA's treatment of the Battlefront license. The absence of space combat and a lack of familiar characters, factions, and locales left much to be desired. In response to the criticism and demands of fans, this new iteration, developed by DICE and Motive Studios, will feature more characters and content from the films and lore of Star Wars

This was followed up with the announcements of new properties from developers Visceral Games and Respawn Entertainment. The first of these will be an action-adventure game that is scheduled to be release in 2018. The latter will be a 3rd person action-adventure, similar to Star WarsBounty Hunter or the cancelled Star Wars: 1313, that will reportedly be set in a different timeline than any of the titles that have been explored by EA. An inside look at the future relationship between Star Wars games and EA demonstrates the immense efforts that the company is making, as well as some early in-game footage for Visceral's untitled project. EA is pooling the creative efforts of professionals from across the gaming industry in order to provide a quality experience for series fans.
