Unpacking sales have crossed the one million mark, according to developer Witch Beam. The studio also shared some interesting statistics about the game, including how many players flushed every toilet in each apartment and how many countries Unpacking has been played in.

We rather liked Unpacking when we reviewed it last year, so I'm not surprised that the game has managed to achieve this level of success. On Twitter, Witch Beam thanked the fans who made the sales figures possible, as well as sharing a fun infographic containing some extra information about the game. Presumably, this information spans every platform on which Unpacking is available.

An infographic showing Unpacking's sales figures, awards nominations, and countries played in, as well as toilets flushed
It's been a good year for Unpacking.

As well as selling a million copies, Unpacking has been nominated for an impressive 50 awards since it was released, winning 20 of those awards. It's been played in 185 countries around the world, which is also pretty impressive. Given its simple premise and deceptively deep storytelling the awards attention doesn't surprise me.

One stat that is quite surprising is how many players flushed every toilet in the game at least once. Unpacking is a game that sees you, well, unpacking possessions across a variety of different apartments, and it seems that 14% of the game's player base just couldn't rest until they knew the toilets in each apartment had been flushed. Admirably fastidious!

You can pick up Unpacking right now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. To celebrate the game's first anniversary on sale, you can also pick up a whole host of new merchandise, including an adorable storage cube, some T-shirts, and some drinks coasters.

Once you've bought these things, you can then have the satisfaction of arranging them in your apartment, although hopefully without the implied emotional journey the protagonist of Unpacking goes on. The game's also available at a 30% discount on Steam right now, so this is the time to check it out if you haven't already.
