The Universe Sandbox price will be changing "in the near future" according to a statement from the developers. This space simulator with a robust physics engine has let players smash stars into planets and tinker with their own personal universe for some time and now the developers are going to be raising the price by five dollars in the coming months.

If you haven't yet played Universe Sandbox, it's a game that lets players mess with the underpinnings of the universe on an unprecedented scale. Gravity is modeled realistically — and that applies to everything you see before you. Stars, planets, and moons all move realistically, and you can even smash them into one another to enjoy the epic destruction. Alternatively, you can make things a lot easier by making a star go supernova and just taking care of a whole solar system in one go.

The game has been in Steam Early Access for some time now, and a Steam Community news post from the developers state that they are going to be raising the price from $24.99 to $29.99 in the near future. Primarily, the developers are seeking a little more money in order to continue their work.

The Universe Sandbox price increase will likely coincide with the launch of their Surface Grids & Lasers update. The price jump will likely take place sometime before October 2019, meaning that now is probably your best chance to get the game at a discount before the price goes up for good.

If you don't yet already own Universe Sandbox, you can pick it up on Steam right now as part of the Steam Summer Sale 2019 at a price of $16.74 or your regional equivalent, a 33% discount off of its current retail price of $24.99.

What do you think of the Universe Sandbox price increase? Do you think the developers are justified in raising the price of their game in this instance? Let us know in the comments below!
