The 2017 British Academy Games Awards by BAFTA, has announced their winners of their game awards on April 6th.
Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was able to snatch the best game award, marking the fifth time the Uncharted series has snatched an award with BAFTA. The previous four awards all came from Uncharted 2, which also snagged the best game award in 2010.
The biggest winner of the night though was the indie title INSIDE by developer Playdead. INSIDE would take away four awards during the ceremony: Best Narrative, Game Design, Artistic Achievement and Original Property. Only two other games were able to snag multiple awards, both indie titles. Campo Santo's Firewatch won Best Debut Game and Best Performance for Voice Actress Cissy Jones. Ghost Town Games Overcooked snagged Best Family Game and Best British Game.
Other winners included That Dragon, Cancer, Overwatch, Rocket League and Pokemon Go, to name a few. Game developer Brenda Romero was also given a special award "for outstanding creative contribution to the gaming industry, and for her illustrious career in game design, her advocacy for the art and creative process behind game-making, and her commitment to encouraging the next generation of talent in the industry."
