Ubisoft Toronto released a gameplay trailer for the action-adventure toys-to-life game Starlink: Battle for Atlas at the Ubisoft E3 2018 conference. Laurent Malville, the game director, appeared on stage after the trailer and introduced Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Malville talked about his lifelong love for Nintendo's classic 3D shoot 'em up Star Fox, produced by Shigeru Miyamoto. The protagonist of Star Fox, Fox McCloud, will appear on Starlink: Battle for Atlas in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Yves Guillemot in turn said he couldn't wait to play with Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch and announced industry legend Shigeru Miyamoto, giving him a model of Fox’s ship, the Arwing, then invited him backstage.

Set in the Atlas star system, which is 400-lightyears from Earth, it sets players against an alien legion using laser guns and mighty spacecraft. Players will be also able to assemble a custom starship mounted to their game controllers to launch into an interplanetary adventure, leading a group of heroic interstellar pilots who use modular starships to mix and match their unique gear and skills on the fly.

Pilots, hulls, wings and weapons can be mixed and matched to build the player's custom starship with unprecedented level of customization and creativity. The changes to the physical starship are instantly reflected in the gameplay experience, allowing players to immediately jump into the battle.

Combat involves the player's own playstyle with unique pilot abilities and weapon configurations to overcome deadly challenges. Each pilot has different skills to gain an advantage in battle. The game is set in 7 exotic alien worlds in the Atlas star system, a galaxy full of unique challenges to encounter and overcome.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will launch on October 16, 2018 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
