Chaturbate gaming has finally debuted on the adult video streaming platform, opening up new doors to adult streamers and finally giving Twitch some more competition -- albeit with a limited list of games.
As Kotaku reports, gaming on Chaturbate was generally not allowed, partially due to the fact that streaming video games is in a current legal gray area. It appears that Chaturbate was reluctant to risk upsetting game developers and had effectively banned any of its models from playing video games during a Livestream. That has all changed as of yesterday.
"Broadcasters can now officially play video games on Chaturbate!" read a tweet from the official Chatubrate Updates account. "Head to the broadcast page and add any approved game to your broadcast to begin playing."
How Chaturbate Gaming Works
Chaturbate gaming works a lot like it does on Twitch -- models can choose to highlight a game they're playing by selecting it from a dropdown in the "My Broadcast" menu. There is, however, one exception: the list of approved games is currently awfully short.
As reported on Reddit, Chaturbate previously had a policy of disallowing video games to be streamed unless a model has the explicit permission of a game's publisher. This is a pretty archaic system as far as things go, and yesterday's changes should make it easier than ever for models to expand their content on the adult video streaming platform.
The debut of Chaturbate gaming also gives the platform an edge over Twitch in regards to certain video games -- Twitch banned Adult Only-rated games on its platform back in 2015. Since then, it has banned several other unrated games for dubious reasons such as Yandere Simulator. Twitch has had challenges of its own with steamy content, most recently highlighted with its establishment of a new category for "Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches."
As one might expect, many of the approved Chaturbate gaming titles are explicit, adult games such as Huniepop, although there are a handful of non-adult games in the mix like Log Jammers. Games must be explicitly added by developers and publishers by signing up for an account and explicitly granting permission to the platform.
