Are you excited for another Total War game? Well then have I got news for you. Today we learned where the next Total War game is thanks to a magazine that went on shelves early.
A picture posted to Reddit shows a copy of PC Gamer on a store shelf. While there's a few interesting side notes (2 free weeks of Xbox Game Pass for PC? Sign me up!), the big cover story is on Troy: A Total War Saga. Sadly, all we know about the game outside of that is the tagline of "Epic battle in a world of gods and monsters." Does this mean we'll be seeing more of a mythological edge to the normal historical conflicts that Total War showcases? Or will there be a historical and fictional mode, not much unlike the recent Total War: Three Kingdoms? It seems like we'll find out when the magazine launches.
Troy: A Total War Saga would be the second game in the Total War Saga series, following Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia. Unlike normal Total War games, these focus specifically on smaller conflicts in condensed regions. The idea is to complement the normal era-spanning games. In a Thrones of Britannia press release from 2017 series director Mike Simpson had the following to say about the series:
Our aim with Total War Sagas is to explore key flashpoints at distinct places and times in history. Unlike our era-spanning titles, we're putting defined geographical areas under the microscope, building super-detailed campaign maps with a strong cultural focus and flavour that players can dive into. This will complement our broader-scope titles perfectly.
At the current time, there's no release date or further information for Troy: A Total War Saga, but it seems safe to say it will come to PC.
How do you feel about Troy: A Total War Saga? Any particular feelings about the time period? Going to pick up this issue of PC Gamer to learn about it? Let us know in the comments below!
