The Mana series has had a bit of a rough time in the West. While Final Fantasy Adventures and Secrets of Mana were well-loved, the third game in the series took a very long time to get to the United States. In fact, it only made it here in June, despite the original release of 1995. However, it seems the same fate won't befall the full remake, and Trials of Mana now has a new trailer and release date.
The trailer features some of the cast of characters who you'll be hanging out with during the adventure. There are many interesting fantasy protagonists, such as the young warrior Duran, a rebellious princess named Angela, and a noble thief named Hawkeye. One notable feature of the original game is that you got to choose at the beginning of the game which of these characters would be the main character, so it's a good thing the trailer gives a quick preview of each. We also get to see some gameplay, which reminded me quite a bit of the Tales series. As a full 3D remake, you'll be running around the battlefield, dodging attacks and using special abilities.
In addition to giving us a firm release date, we also got an idea of the pre-order and early buyer bonuses. No matter which version of the game you get, if you buy it before May 21st, you'll get the Rabite Adornment, a special item that will allow players to get more XP from fights until they're level 10. PlayStation 4 owners will also get six avatars that they can use for their PSN profile, while those who use Steam will get some exclusive wallpapers.
Trials of Mana will be available on April 24th, 2020, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch for the price of $49.99.
