A series of Total War: Warhammer 3 leaks have popped up online in advance of next week's gameplay reveal, featuring an in-game screenshot and revealing some gameplay details.
Total War: Warhammer 3 is, as you might expect, the next game in the Total War: Warhammer franchise. Based on Games Workshop's Warhammer fantasy franchise, these strategy games feature massive battles with hundreds of units for the fate of the world. Now, a new game is on the way — and a fair amount of leaked details have apparently been revealed.
What Are the Total War: Warhammer 3 Leaks?
The most notable (and likely most reliable) of the Total War: Warhammer 3 leaks are the two screenshots you see above. One of them appears to be an in-game screen (UI and all) and the other appears to show a character standing on a sheet of ice. A Creative Assembly employee responded to the leaked gameplay screenshot, noting that it the "Battle of Fallen Gates."
What's much more interesting, however, is what is reportedly a series of text posts copied onto Reddit from 4chan. To start, the leaker says that the battles reminded him somewhat of Dawn of War in that you had to progress along the map and secure capture points while being assailed by waves of enemies. One of these battles saw him going up against chaos forces including a couple of demon lords.
The Total War: Warhammer 3 leaks also give us an idea of the gameplay to a degree. As fans of the Total War franchise know, this isn't exactly a traditional RTS; base-building is not as important as it is in something like Starcraft or Age of Empires. According to the leaker, you can build structures such as barricades but there otherwise isn't much in the way of base building.
We also got some hints as to what we can expect for abilities; the 4chan leaker cited five specific examples:
Crystal Sanctuary: better dmg resistance, but unit can't move.
Frost Blades: buff for attack and AP.
ice Maiden’s Kiss:frosty breath that slows enemies and damage them Death Frost: dmg over time
Ice sheet: speed and charge reduction
Heart of Winter: evolving AOE that does more dmg with each stage.
Finally, there's the concern about graphics. According to the leaker, there were some minor frame drops when new waves of enemies spawned, but they weren't all that severe.
You can read the Total War: Warhammer 3 leaks on Reddit for more details. As always, bear in mind that these are unconfirmed leaks — keep a healthy sense of skepticism in mind. As for the game itself, you can look forward to an in-depth gameplay reveal on May 13, 2021, at 12:00 PM EST according to a recent teaser trailer. You can pre-purchase Total War: Warhammer 3 via its official website for $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
