Total War: Three Kingdoms delayed was the news sent out this morning about the Chinese addition to the Total War series of turn-based/real-time strategy hybrid games. Instead of March 7, Total War: Three Kingdoms release date is set for May 23 in order to polish some features.
In a development blog post this morning, Ella McConnell announced a delay to the next game in the series. The team is excited about the game and the "revolutionary" features going into the game. However, in order to make sure everything works good, the team is moving the release back from it's initial March 7 window. In order to polish the game and catch bugs, the game will be released May 23.
Ella defined what exactly they mean by "polish":
Polish means a whole bunch of things. Such as two consecutive specific battle animations transitioning smoothly, or making sure our language and localisation is executed to the highest standard, or ensuring that the lighting is well balanced across different types of weather and environment variables. We’re looking at the whole game and seeing what we can improve.Ella also added that they're "lucky" to be able to make the right decisions for their games. In this case, Ella means being able to take the time to make sure the game is fully ready for release. "It’s more important to give you a game that you can enjoy to the fullest, rather than stick to a release date just because," they add. It definitely seems to be a good idea to be willing to move back a release date if necessary. Treating it as a hard deadline can cause major issues, like with Overkill's The Walking Dead.
Total War: Three Kingdoms delayed its release on PC May 23, sometime after the unnamed Total War: Warhammer II DLC goes live now. Previously, the DLC had been announced to be coming after Three Kingdoms release. The delayed release is going to have no impact on pre-orders or DLC for Three Kingdoms however. Two upcoming livestreams will be showing at the times listed below:
