A pretty hefty update, titled Tin Isle Mercenaries, for Total War Attila is now online and has brought many fixes, including some I addressed before. Hordes are less likely to be chased down now by the campaign AI and Hun warriors have been nerfed to some extent. There are also numerous A.I. improvements, bug fixes, gameplay enhancements, and general improvements all together. The full list of changes can be found here.

The big news with this update is the addition of Celtic mercenaries for free, even to those who do not purchase the Celts Culture Pack. Upon installation of the update, all players will have immediate access to the Celtic mercenaries provided.

All Celtic units have the Guerrilla Deployment trait, which gives them a vastly larger area in which to deploy across any given battlefield. This can bring a disruptive new dimension to your army’s skillset, enabling it to perform surprise attacks early in the battle and from unexpected directions – even from concealment behind the enemy.
The other big news is the release of two pieces of DLC: Blood and Burning and the aformentioned Celts Culture Pack

Blood and Burning as the name would suggest adds gore, guts, disease, and people burning to death. The just released trailer showcases this and is not for the faint of heart.

Blood & Burning comprises of:

• Gory new Campaign Map combat anims with blood-spatter, arm severance and decapitations. • Ultraviolent Battlefield combat animations including limb-severance, decapitation and blood spurts. • Soldiers in armies suffering from disease will vomit when idle on the battlefield. • New burning and burn-to-death animations for both soldiers and civilians. • New gore decals in battles depicting vomit, blood and bodily organs. • New, blood-soaked versions of key animated event messages.

All Blood & Burning effects can be enabled or disabled in the Graphics Options menu.

Celts Culture Pack brings three new playable factions to Total War Attila: The Picts, The Caledonians, and the Ebdanians.
• Celtic forces specialise in ambush tactics and ‘Guerrilla Deployment’. • New Celtic roster with unique new units for each faction. • New Prestige Buildings, requiring great feats to unlock. • New unique raiding building chain and Celtic-themed technologies. • Bespoke Celtic generals’ skill trees. • Unique narrative event chain: Cycle of the Ollam Ri, and new Celtic missions for each faction.
Blood and Burning and Celts Culture Pack are priced at $2.99 and $7.99 respectfully on Steam.

So what is your take on the update and DLC? Tried out any mods for Total War Attila yet and if so, which ones? Sound off in the comments below.
