Perfect World Entertainment and Echtra Inc have announced the Torchlight 3 release date for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
After being in early access for several months, Torchlight 3 release date is set for October 13th for the above-mentioned platforms at 7 AM Pacific. At that time, the game will get its launch update on PC, and release on those consoles, with the price of 39.99, a hike from the early access price that is currently set at $29.99. All versions of the game will also have an exclusive fairy pet for the platform. Additionally Torchlight 3 is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
Max Schaefer, who helped create the Torchlight franchise, and is the CEO of Echtra Inc, shared the following thoughts in the announcement:
“The full release of Torchlight III wouldn’t have been possible without all of the incredible work from the entire Echtra team and our excellent community of Early Access players. We’ve put our heart into this new adventure and it has been awesome getting so much support from players while the game has been in live development. With the significant changes we’ve made throughout Torchlight III’s journey in Early Access, we have done our best to meaningfully integrate players’ feedback as much as possible into the game as we march toward launch. Next month, we can’t wait to welcome all players to the Frontier!”
What is Torchlight 3?
The sequel to the highly acclaimed ARPG Torchlight 2, Torchlight 3 began as an online-focused spinoff called Torchlight Frontiers before morphing into Torchlight 3, which was put in early access on Steam in June. Torchlight 3 is set a century after Torchlight 2, when an invasion has put the world, or at least the Ember Empire, at the edge of collapse.
Torchlight 3 features online upgradeable, and customizable forts set in the frontier, that you can showoff to your friends in the online 4-player co-op, or stumble across other players creations as you go about. There are three acts to travel across slaying monsters with your pets, collecting rare loot, as you level up making use of your combination of class, relic, and skills to merge them into your own unique character.
As you progress through the game, beyond the three acts there is also a progression based contract system that lets players earn fame and unlock 'elite' items. There is also the Fazeer Shah's Dun-Djinn for endgame play, and a multitude of areas to explore and bosses to slay.
Torchlight 3 releases on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 13th, for $39.99. A version is also coming to Nintendo Switch in the near future.
