The Toontown Rewritten update The Last Laff has just launched, with the nearly 20-year-old family MMO adding in an interactive story mission to conclude the Sellbot Task Force saga. This Toontown Rewritten update is the culmination of the first major expansion the game received back in December. It's led to the Cogs launching a full-scale invasion of Toontown, with the Toon Resistance needs the help of players to defeat the Sellbot Task Force. Let's get into it, shall we?

What's in the Toontown Rewritten update The Last Laff?

The biggest addition is the aforementioned interactive story mission, along with 20 new ToonTasks and rewards that extend the main quest line. There's also the Last Laff boost that allows toons to reach a maximum of 140 Laff Points, and new activities and cosmetics available in the Hideout. If you're interested, there's a secret area for Sellbot Task Force recruits, which is pretty neat.

What's even neater are the newly modernized interfaces and quality-of-life (QoL) improvements. For a game that's nearly twenty years old, it's something that's badly needed. It doesn't have to be comprehensive, but for such an old game, iteration on old systems is definitely needed. For instance, Goofy's Gag Shop has gotten a facelift, and Toons can now save and load their usual gag setup at the Gag Shop. The Mega-Mover interface has also been remastered. Perhaps most critically, a feature has been added that allows players to see if a District is in the process of being drained by Technical Operations Toons for maintenance. If it is, the district will turn an orange color, and players won't be able to enter until maintenance has been finished.

There are also a bunch of other additions and fixes to the game, including numerous memory leaks, an issue causing the camera FOV to reset when looking up and down, and a performance hitch when entering Pick-a-Toon on first login. If you'd like to check out the update notes for yourself, go here.
