A Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 charity DLC has been launched by Activision. 100% of the proceeds from "The United Pack" will be going to the Call of Duty Endowment, a charity that benefits American veterans.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is a pretty fantastic remaster of these classic skateboarding games and it's just getting started. Although it's only been out for a few days, a new piece of post-launch DLC is already out. Hold your pitchforks, though — this new DLC is purely cosmetic and it benefits veterans.
"The United Pack" gives players a number of tie-dyed cosmetics created by Ricardo Gonzalez's "It's A Living" art movement. These items include:
- United T-Shirt
- United Pants
- United Wheel Set
- United Hat
- United Beanie
- United Tie-Dye Camo Skateboard Deck
- United Traditional Camo Skateboard Deck
How Does the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 Charity DLC Help Veterans?
One might wonder — how does buying a bunch of trippy cosmetics help out veterans? Well, 100% of the proceeds from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 charity DLC go to the Call of Duty Endowment, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help out vets:
The Call of Duty Endowment is a non-profit organization co-founded by Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. The Endowment seeks to help veterans find high-quality careers by supporting groups that prepare them for the job market and by raising awareness of the value vets bring to the workplace.
The Call of Duty Endowment has a goal of sending 100,000 veterans back to work by 2024. This charity DLC will help fund those efforts, but you won't be able to get it forever. The Activision Blog post announcing this DLC notes that this offer will end on December 31, 2021 or after USD$500,000 has been raised — whichever comes first.
For now, you can buy The United Pack via the storefront of your particular platform. Otherwise, you can donate directly to the Call of Duty Endowment on its website. You can also buy Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 via tonyhawkthegame.com.
