Beta Access for Tom Clancy's The Division is no longer guaranteed as reported by Game Informer. To get an idea of what the game is like, Ubisoft showed off a fair bit of gameplay at E3 2015:

The main point of contention is the notion of beta access being "guaranteed". The announcement post for the beta stated that players who pre-ordered, "from a participating retailer [would] guarantee [their] spot in The Division Beta when it becomes available on your platform." The FAQ page states that there are a limited number of  guaranteed access codes for the beta but that you can get one by pre-ordering. Furthermore, it states that for digital purchases made via the Xbox Store, Playstation Store, or Steam will automatically grant access to the beta.

However, a recent Blog Post turns these guarantees on their head:

Due to the unprecedented demand for access to The Division Closed Beta, we can no longer guarantee access. If you have already pre-ordered The Division and have yet to receive your key, we’re working closely with our partners to ensure that you receive it tomorrow when we send out the next batch of keys.

For those of you that have not pre-ordered but are on the waiting list for The Division Beta, please know that we want to get as many people in the Beta as possible. However, space will be severely limited for the rest of the beta testing phase due to high-demand.

It appears that Ubisoft intends to prioritize players who have pre-ordered for the remaining beta period. However, there are some commenters who have stated that they preordered and have yet to receive a code at the time of this writing. Some people in the comments are also requesting that Ubisoft extend the beta so that more people get a chance to play.

Tom Clancy's The Division will be launching for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8, 2016.

Are you excited about Tom Clancy's The Division or is it not really your kind of game? Do you feel that Ubisoft is reneging on a promise by no longer guaranteeing beta access to players? Let us know in the comments below!
