A brand new Phasmophobia update is landing today, and it's bringing some fun stuff with it. The August update adds two new ghosts, new ghost-hunting tools, and some adjustments to existing mechanics and systems. It's coming later this afternoon.
What's in the new Phasmophobia update?
First up in the new Phasmophobia August update - which is titled "Exposition" - we're getting two new Phasmophobia ghost types. The Myling is based on the Scandinavian folklore monster of the same name; it's a child ghost doomed to roam the earth until they can persuade someone to bury them, which is pretty metal. Our second ghost is the Japanese Goryo, which are spirits of powerful aristocrats who have been wronged or martyred. Suffice it to say these two are going to be pretty terrifying when you encounter them in Phasmophobia.
As well as the two new ghosts, there's also a brand new evidence type on the way to give you more options when you're trying to breathlessly explain what's happened to incredulous onlookers. A new DOTS projector will help you to find distorted ghost silhouettes, and there's also new and improved equipment to look forward to. Equipment adjustments have been made, and sprinting should feel a little smoother. Some equipment models have been replaced, and Kinetic Games is also promising "visual adjustments", although we don't yet know what they are. How spooky.
When is the Phasmophobia August update release date?
Happily, if you're a Phasmophobia fan, you really don't have long to wait. The Phasmophobia August update release date is...drumroll please...today. It'll launch for the game at 7pm BST, and if you're not a big time conversion person, 7pm BST to EST works out at 2pm. That means you'll be able to get your hands on the update in just a few hours, which is pretty exciting. We don't have a full changelog for the new update yet, but Kinetic Games says there will be more than what's been outlined above, so we'll have to wait and see. Be sure to check out the Phasmophobia Steam page for a full list of fixes and changes when the update does launch.
