The developers at Caligari Games have announced the Whateverland release date, a Tim Burton-inspired point-and-click adventure game where players will be plopped into the grey and grueling world they must escape from.

The game is spilling over with intricate puzzles for players to conquer, in-depth storylines, and over 20 minigames for players to enjoy. The coolest aspect that this game has to offer, is that you may never have the same gameplay experience twice, as the game has non-linear progression that will lead players down different paths.

As you dive into the game, you take on the life of Vincent, a very skilled thief who has been trapped in the magical prison that is Whateverland. This land is made up of evildoers who have been banished as a result of their past life's actions. You will lead a team of bug-like creatures that are obtained by burning books called the Bookashes. Each of these creatures comes with its own set of abilities for battle. These Bookashes can be used in one of the mini-games available called Bell and Bones, where the main concept is to score a goal before the opposing team does. This hexagonal grid strategy game is extremely easy to learn and is favored among the residents of Wateverland as a means of entertainment.

The game features several familiar mechanics such as point-and-click gameplay, but with the added bonus of the graphical design, which looks as though it has been drawn entirely by hand. This is where the inspiration from Tim Burton is drawn out, as the bizarre and spooky aesthetic gives the vibes of something almost directly out of Corpse Bride or Nightmare Before Christmas. The game features a fully-voiced English dialogue, making it easy to stay immersed in the world that is Whateverland, as well as some smooth jazz-like tones playing in the background during each narration and portion of dialogue.

Whateverland is set to release on September 15, 2022, on Steam, GOG, and Itch.io for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux and will cost $19.99. To see more of what the game has to offer, you can check out the game's Steam page, and even play the Prologue to get a feel for what's to come later next month.
