THQ Nordic has announced that they have opened up a branch in Japan, named THQ Nordic Japan KK.

Created with the intent of publishing, marketing, and distribution in Japan, THQ Nordic Japan will be handling games developed and published by both THQ Nordic and its HandyGames branch. There is no current word on if it will also deal with Coffee Stain Studios as well. The studio will be directed by Yuji Kato, who has had over 20 years of experience in the games industry. Yuji had the following to say about the new studio:

At this point, I would like to quote Persona 3: “Two in Harmony Surpasses One in Perfection”.Our team is prepared, honoured, and absolutely ready to kickstart THQ Nordic’s operations on the Japanese market. We are honoured that we were given this opportunity and can not wait to bring THQ Nordic content to our Japanese audience.

Additionally, THQ Nordic managing director Klemens Kreuzer had the following to say about THQ Nordic Japan KK:

In our opinion, the only real way to truly embrace (pun intended) the Japanese market is to run it with a team of Japanese professionals, which was our approach for the new Japanese subsidiary. A warm, heartfelt welcome to the entire team based in Tokyo, Japan. Good things come to those who wait and we took our time to realize it with the best setup possible.

THQ Nordic is currently working on several games, including action RPG Darksiders Genesis, third-person action game Biomutant, and a remake of open-world classic Destroy All Humans!. Their HandyGames arm is also currently working on stealth game El Hijo. How many of these games will be brought to Japan is still a mystery, but it seems likely it will be more than it used to be.
