Resident Evil 7 VR mod has been in development for the last few months, and a new video from its creator praydog shows that it's making good progress on the road to release.

Resident Evil 7 was a pretty good entry in Capcom's survival horror franchise. Considering the popularity of the Meta Quest exclusive Resident Evil 4 VR, it should come as no surprise that people want to play other games in the franchise in VR, too. Gamers have called for aid -- and a modder has answered.

The RE7 PCVR mod (highlighted via ResetEra) is being developed by praydog, a software developer who has been "pulling games apart for fun" for over a decade. He uses his talents to mod popular PC games in various different ways, and his latest efforts are focused on making Resident Evil 7 work in virtual reality.

Mind, this isn't just an HMD experience -- as you can see in the above test video, the Resident Evil 7 VR Mod has full hand controls, too. It looks about as good as you would expect to see from a professional VR conversion for a major AAA release -- and it won't cost you a penny to play it.

When is the Resident Evil 7 VR Mod Release Date?

Unfortunately, the Resident Evil 7 VR mod release date has not yet been announced. Its developer praydog will launch the mod once it's completed to his satisfaction.

When this mod does launch, you'll be able to download it for PC via Github. You can support praydog's modding efforts by joining his Patreon. You will, of course, need the base game to make use of this mod -- you can buy Resident Evil 7 for PC via Steam starting at $29.99 or your regional equivalent.
