Four Cleaners face off against a massive Ridden in Back 4 Blood

A new Back 4 Blood DLC expansion has been announced. River of Blood is the third major addition to the game, and it'll add a new story campaign, a new Cleaner with a rather unique gimmick to get to grips with, and plenty more when it arrives next month.

The second major Back 4 Blood expansion Children of the Worm was released all the way back in August. Like this one, it added new story episodes to work through and a new character to play as, but River of Blood's new Cleaner comes with an interesting special ability. Tala is a former cultist who's accompanied by a friendly Tallboy by the name of Jeff, and he can be summoned by Tala or other Cleaners she's fighting with.

As well as Tala, the new DLC also adds five new missions in which you must travel upriver, stopping periodically to resupply and empty out enemy nests. Naturally, the DLC also comes with new skins for characters and weapons, and there's new gear up for grabs as well.

There's lots of new content on its way in the third Back 4 Blood DLC expansion.

If you're not feeling this paid DLC, then you'll be pleased to know there's also a free Back 4 Blood update on its way. Arriving alongside the expansion, the Trial of the Worm update adds a new co-op PvE mode in which players team up to take on a four-map challenge. You can choose how difficult you want your journey to be, with more points up for grabs if you pick harder maps.

Last but not least, the Back 4 Blood Holiday Event is also making a triumphant return, kicking off on December 6th (alongside the expansion and the update) and running until January 4th. It'll give you the chance to enjoy festive tunes on Fort Hope's jukebox, as well as offering up holiday-themed skins and other content. Make sure you don't miss it if you're a Back 4 Blood fan.

You can pick up Back 4 Blood right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms, and the game is also available on Xbox Game Pass. Both previous DLC expansions are also available across Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Microsoft Store. River of Blood launches on December 6th, along with the free Trial of the Worm update and the Holiday Event.
