Today, it was announced that VOEZ, a "colorful rhythm game,"would be the first portable-only Nintendo Switch title for the platform. The game essentially has notes or icons falling from the top of the screen via lanes, which the player touches to the beat of the song that is playing. There are 116 songs for players to beat, either in Easy, Hard, or Special difficulties, and the game is set in a high school where a band with six boys and girls pursue their dream of music, which ends up in the creation of their band: Voez.

Courtesy of Flyhigh Works' Japan page is a FAQ that answers a few questions regarding VOEZOf the four questions, perhaps the most interesting is that the game cannot be played in Nintendo Switch's TV mode, as it is a touch screen only title. The supported languages are Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean, while the 116 songs that VOEZ ships with are available without additional charge, which essentially means that with FlyHigh Works' title, what you see is what are able to play.

There is also an exclusive song for the Nintendo Switch version of VOEZ, which is called Ascension. The developer also plans to add more Nintendo Switch exclusive songs and some songs may come as free updates.

VOEZ is set to be released on March 3rd and will cost users 2,500 JPY, or about $22 USD. VOEZ has been available on iOS and Android for a little while now and you can check it out there as well.

Quick Take:

This is a great move that will help propel Nintendo's fledgling online ecosystem to new heights. Mobile developers that would ordinarily not even think about Nintendo's console will now be able to port over their titles to the Switch with little fuss, and that's not even taking into consideration Nintendo's vast library of DS, Gameboy, and Gameboy Advanced titles that could be ported over to the console.
