The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia is an upcoming Steam release from developer MorbidWare and publisher Headup that mashes together bullet hell mechanics and typing. No, really.

Demons are popping up everywhere in the city of Rome and it's up to exorcist Ray Bibbia to expel them. Unfortunately for him (and you), this is done by typing out the words while avoiding a heckin' ton of evil demon attacks flying at you from every conceivable direction. The Textorcist will test your skills at dodging attacks and typing under pressure. Take a look at the game's Announcement Trailer to see what the gameplay is like:

Typing is a big part of the game. Heck, you even have to type to just open a door. Each boss has their own unique spin on the game's typing mechanics, so it probably won't be a simple matter of typing out the correct words while avoiding a couple hundred energy pulses on the screen. If you do happen to get clipped by one of the blasts, you'll drop your spellbook and crucifix. Those things are kind of necessary for the whole exorcism thing, so you'll have to run over and pick those up. Because hey, we wouldn't want to make a game like this too easy.

We've checked out our fair share of typing games here at TechRaptor like Typefighters and Epistory. The real interesting bit is what such a game does alongside the typing mechanics and The Textorcist certainly seems to deliver. Of course, The Textorcist isn't just about typing as fast as you can while dodging shots. There's a mystery to unravel, and you'll uncover clues by investigating various places of interest. Explore various locations in your efforts to uncover just how a bunch of demons managed to roll up on the doorstep of one of the holiest cities on Earth.

The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia will be making its way to Steam on February 14, 2019. No price has been announced just yet. In the meantime, you can add it to your wishlist on Steam.
