Square Enix has promised more information about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake sequel Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, coming "soon."

We get another post on the game's official Twitter account, with a brief but promising message from creative director Tetsuya Nomura.

Q: When can I find more about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?

A: More Information will be revealed soon.

This is the seventh and likely last bit of info provided by Square Enix over the past few days, after the mention that development is going smoothly and that the developers are working on determining a release date. Then the publisher provided more details about the game's worldthe storyabout the ability to enjoy Rebirth without playing the first game, about party interaction, and about the music. If I was a betting man, I'd say the "soon" is actually very soon. Possibly, this was purposely leading to a reveal later today at Summer Game Fest or at another showcase later this week.

If you're not familiar with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it's the second title of what is supposed to be a trilogy started with the Final Fantasy VII Remake. It was officially revealed almost exactly a year ago with a rather trippy trailer that most definitely brought up more questions for the fans than it answered. The game will come to PS5 in winter 2023.

Before that happens, we're going get the release of Final Fantasy XVI, which is coming for PS5 on June 22. If you'd like to learn more, you can read my preview and enjoy our interview with producer Naoki Yoshida and art director Hiroshi Minagawa.

If you haven't already played Final Fantasy VII Remake and are on the fence on whether to do it or not before it sequel releases, you can read our review, in which our own Sam Guglielmo called it "beautiful, a ton of fun, and manages to bring one of the jRPG classics up to modern standards with few issues."
