Re-Logic has announced that the Terraria: Journey's End Nintendo Switch release date has been locked in for early 2022. Following that, the same update will be developed for the mobile version of the game.

Terraria is a side-scrolling Metroidvania and building game that has been ported to everything short of a Samsung Smart Fridge (although the Stadia version almost didn't happen). It's had a ton of updates since it first launched all the way back in 2011 and its final update launched on PC late last year. Well, it was meant to be the final update, but then Re-Logic went and added Steam Workshop support and did a pretty cool crossover with Don't Starve Together.

PC players have been enjoying all of this new content as soon as it came out, but console players have been lagging behind. Now, Re-Logic has an update on the progress of development and there's some good news -- Nintendo Switch players won't have to wait too long to play the latest batch of content.

"We have what we hope will be an early holiday gift to our Switch fans: Terraria: Journey's End is in the final stages of development and submission, and… We are pleased to reveal that the launch date will be January 4, 2022!" read a State of the Game news post from the developers.
