The Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update has been surprisingly announced by Re-Logic, bringing balance changes and a few new goodies to the game in the near future.

Terraria has a bit of a problem with "final" updates -- Re-Logic has a tendency to keep putting out post-launch content despite saying that it's done developing the game. The Journey's End Update was supposed to be the end of new content... that is, until Re-Logic decided to launch Journey's Actual End. Then, it added Steam Workshop support. And after that, it teamed up with Klei to release a crossover with Don't Starve Together.

Suffice it to say, Re-Logic has a tendency to release new content for the game despite saying otherwise. Now, this game dev is back at it again -- a new update has been announced to celebrate the game winning the Labor of Love Award in the Steam Awards 2022.

What's Coming in the Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update?

The Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update largely focuses on balance changes for the game, although that's not all that's coming for this new batch of content. Details of the new update were provided via an exclusive preview from ChippyGaming.

Let's start with the balance changes -- a few of the game's most iconic weapons have had their stats and abilities adjusted. Here's what's on the way:

Dark Lance

  • Increase damage from 29 to 34
  • Now inflicts the Shadowflame debuff on hit
  • Now has approximately 15-20% more reach

Frostbrand

  • Now [fires] its projectile more often
  • The Frost projectile now inflicts Frostburn

Flairon

  • The detection range for the bubbles to chase enemies has increased by 30%
  • The bubbles now last 33% longer than before

Scourge of the Corruptor

  • Now has a more consistent and higher overall average number of Minieaters
  • Minieaters now move and chase enemies faster

Star Wrath

  • The projectile stars now use their own independent immunity timer, allowing each star to hit. Previously, only one star could hit at a time. This will substantially increase the damage dealt to single targets.

These are not the only changes coming to the Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update. For example, Angler quests will now have a chance to spawn an extra furniture loot drop in addition to the main reward upon completing a quest. Furthermore, this chance increases as you do more Angler quests.

Some quality-of-life improvements are also arriving in this update. Plantera's Bulb will now immediately spawn after you've defeated the three Mechs, saving you from having to wait for one to grow naturally. Players fighting the Old One's Army can now skip the wait time in-between waves by right-clicking on the Eternia Crystal Stand. Furthermore, the buffs from the Sharpening Station, Crystal Ball, Ammo Box, and Bewitching Table will now last until death.

These are just some of the many changes announced in today's preview. You can learn more about the Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update by watching ChippyGaming's video (via Reddit).

When is the Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update Release Date?

Unfortunately, the Terraria 1.4.4 Labor of Love Update release date has not yet been announced. That said, it probably won't be too long until Re-Logic has everything ready to go.

For now, there's still an insane amount of content to enjoy in the base game. You can buy Terraria for PC, consoles, and mobile devices at prices ranging from $4.99-$9.99 or your regional equivalent via its official website.
