Capoeira dance fighting will be making a comeback with character Eddy Gordo’s return to the Tekken franchise. Bandai Namco announced today that Eddy will be joining the list of playable characters for the upcoming release Tekken 7. A new trailer highlighting the Brazilian fighter’s moves was recently revealed. Take a look below.

Eddy uses Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines dance and acrobatics to devastating effect. Gordo got involved with the Mishima Zaibatsu when his Capoeira master fell seriously ill and he pleaded with Jin Kazama to help cure him. He was unable to save his beloved master and has forever since sworn revenge against the Mishima Zaibatsu lead by Kasuya Mashima.
The character first made his appearance in Tekken 3 and has been in all installments of the franchise since. So it’s no surprise that Eddy is joining the line-up of fighters for Tekken 7. This time he’s trading in his green and yellow costume complete with traditional corda for an animal print jacket and jeans. Although some characters will be receiving legacy costumes from previous games, it’s not known whether this goes for Eddy as well.
Eddy joins new and old characters alike such as Kuma, Panda, Miguel Caballero Rojo, Eliza and others in Tekken 7. More playable character announcements are sure to come as the game grows closer to it’s release date this summer. Tekken 7 was announced during fighting game tournament EVO in 2014 and is part of the EVO 2017 lineup. Now it is finally making its way to the Americas for players at home.
Tekken 7 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam when released on June 2, 2017. For more information on how to pre-order the game you can read more here. To keep up with Tekken 7 news visit the official website or stay tuned to TechRaptor!
